What I'm Doing...

  • 03Nov

I think that one of the most important aspects for transitioning from Entrepreneur to CEO is to become as healthy as possible. Good eating habits, exercise, mental stability, and more are all important when it comes to becoming healthy and maintaining a healthy well being as a CEO.

Of course as I stated in part one of this series, I am currently in the transitioning phase and that means that I have work to do in this area, too.  The health part is so very important and I feel it is necessary to include in the series. As I progress, I’ll be sure to share
more details with you about my journey.

Here are a few truths about health from which I think we can all garner wisdom:

    • Eating habits count!  Americans have not ever been this fat and it’s all because we have left the basics behind; opting instead for the more convenient unhealthy versions available in fast foods and the like.  It’s important that we take the same time we devote to business and learn more about developing healthy eating habits. It takes time, preparation and planning to make this shift happen.  It means investing time getting to know what foods give you energy and support your journey to great health. Developing good eating habits also requires
preparation and planning to ensure these foods are properly prepared to ensure the highest possible health benefit.
    • Our bodies are made to move. Unfortunately, many of us don’t move enough. A simple 20 minute walk a day is a wonderful way to tell our bodies that it does matter. And if you don’t like to walk, then grab a couple of exercise DVDs like Hip-Hop Abs or Power 90 and move.  Candidly, this is a challenging area for me because I don’t like to sweat or get out of breath.  My current movement regime involves climbing the steps and walking around my house.  I know — I’m working on it!  Let’s start a simple 20 minute walk each day together and hold one another accountable to move in this area, ok?
    • Attitude is also a very important element of being healthy when it comes to transitioning from Entrepreneur to CEO. A CEO’s attitude must be one that is proactive in nature and breeds excellence. The proper attitude prepares you to endure anything that comes up in your business day.  When you have a great attitude, you can face challenges with a spirit of gratitude and arrive at solutions quickly. This is relevant especially since the life of CEO is filled with challenges to overcome and problems to solve.  If you need an attitude adjustment take some time to read, meditate, pray, surround yourself with proactive positive people, and work daily at changing your mindset.

In 2007, I took a 10 week course to learn how to improve my health and create a healthy lifestyle.  This course changed my life!  I learned how sunshine, air and various foods support and promote healthy living.  The course challenged me to think about everything I do in my life as a means to feel better and live better.  Find a course near you

This is not a conclusive list of ways truths about health and I am sure you have your own thoughts. I’d love to hear what your thoughts about the importance of health as it pertains to the transition from Entrepreneur to CEO.

    Wendy Y,

Great information on being connected with the importance of exercise, attitude and healthy eating habits. I’m enjoying your series and I know that you will share thoughts on the importance of downtime, quiet time and meditation to assist with this important transition - some of my favorite topics.

I’m bookmarking you and will keep checking back. Wonderful job!

Definitely that healthy mind and body and spirit connection is important when it comes to transitioning. This has been a struggle for me for sometime, even as a woman who advocates healthy living and eating. And yes I know of Hallelujah Acres and other programs that teach a health message that goes beyond just what we eat. The food is only the start.

Welcome to the Divas! Stopped by to check out your site. Great info! I accept your challenge to hold each other accountable for walking each day. I don’t mind walking. I can just never seem to find the time. I know that I need to just schedule it into my day like any other appointment. Maybe if I know I have to account to someone each day I’ll be more inclined to actually keep that appointment!
