What I'm Doing...

  • 26Jan

You may recall from my last post that your kewl circle is built on a foundation of trust and respect. Let your circle know that you always deliver on your commitments and share your talents willingly. Reveal yourself in each and everything you do. The absolute best way you can show who you are is to be who you are. It’s a surefire way for your kewl circle to experience the real you in every interaction.

Evaluate your kewl circle to ensure you also have a huge dose of these amazing ingredients:

    Kindred Savvy
If you’ve felt as though you were reconnecting with a long lost friend when you met members of your kewl circle, then you’ve got kindred savvy. You may not finish each other’s sentences but you know you will one day. Your kewl circle is well-informed in relateable areas of business and interest. You may even share the same target market for your businesses.

    Peer Wisdom
Hangout with folks that you want to be like when you grow up. There’s a definite reason you admire them, right? Why not get to know more about how they’ve become the person that you admire. Learn about their defining choices and strategies that have worked for them. You want to learn from them and grow as a result of your experiences learning with them.

    Mentoring Support
Like you, your kewl circle takes time to mentor and encourage you and other associates. Your kewl circle shares insight, wisdom and occasionally time. Mentoring is a great way to pay it forward for your colleague and social networking friends. A cautionary note: be sure your kewl circle has clear boundaries and a fairly well-defined structure for how, who and when they provide support to their mentees. This understanding will help you know how your kewl circle operates when it comes to paying it forward.

Here are a few members of my kewl circle:

Shannon Cherry: She and I are kindred savvy big time! I love her business common sense and approach to work. Shannon is also my Aquarian sister and that says volumes about the way we do business and life!

Charly Leetham: We share part of the same brain when it comes to techie stuff. Of course, she actually got the bigger and better part! I totally enjoy working with Charly because she knows her stuff and then some.

Roxanne Ravenel: She’s really my sister from another mother! We enjoy so many of the same things in life and business and it’s a beautiful thing. She’s smart, funny and we’re totally connected. We are peers, mentors/mentees to each other and it just works.

What are you doing to build trust and respect with your kewl circle?

How important is the kindred savvy, peer wisdom and mentoring support in your relationships?

I was privileged to be a guest on Passions, a live internet radio show, hosted by Exceptional Expert — the phenomenal, Beverly Mahone. We talked about Twitter and some of the snobs we’ve encountered.

I graciously admitted that I am a in fact a Twitter Snob. I think my admission shocked Bev and her listeners until I explained what I meant.

I believe in focusing my time and attention on people who will benefit from my information and vice versa. My goal is to enrich the lives and businesses of my followers and connect with people who enrich mine. I enjoy spending quality time chatting with like-minded individuals because it makes my life and business more meaningful. Whether I’m discussing online marketing with Internet marketing gurus, chatting with my coaching colleagues, or sharing quotes, tips and strategies to help businesses grow; it’s important to create win-win relationships for all involved.

    How does this help you?

    Maximize your characters.
Remember, you only have 140 characters to share your personality, showcase your strengths and invest in creating great relationships with your Twitter followers. You have to make every character count. It’s necessary to be strategic with your time to leverage those precious few characters, effectively.

    Engage in conversations.
Invest your efforts on Twitter wisely to guarantee conversations — TWO-WAY communication. People love it when you draw them into your conversation and include them in what you have to say. It’s equally important to express interest in what others are saying. Twitter as a micro blogging tool is taking conversation to its finest points by challenging you to be clear about what you want to provide and what you want to receive. I absolutely love it!

    Manage your followers wisely.
Unfortunately, everyone on Twitter doesn’t get it. It bugs me when people are constantly sending links my way as though they don’t have to talk to me. I move very quickly to unfollow these link-peddlers. I also unfollow people who use fowl or offensive language. It clutters up my Twitter stream. I have too much respect for myself and my reputation to tolerate that! Remember your followers see your @replies, too. Take great care in this regard.

    Let your REAL personality show.
It truly helps you to become more genuine to the people with whom you are connecting. If your marketing plan includes posting a few tweets throughout your day, then be you every time. People are attracted to you when they get to know you. Personality is so very important. Potential clients want clear assurances that you are likeable and trustworthy.

Being a Twitter snob is necessary for connecting with people who enrich you that you get to support and enrich, too.

Hey, are you a Twitter snob?

2009 is here! You’ve looked at areas of your business and resolved to do things differently this year. If you’re like I used to be, your resolutions may be long forgotten by February. It’s rather exciting to know there is a more productive approach that ensures success in incorporating incremental shifts and powerful change into your life and business.

Here are six smart ways to give your business a facelift right now:

    1. Values – Identify them and adjust your business around them.
When you know what’s important, it makes it very easy to make business decisions about what you do, when you do it and how you do it. Priorities for your business are clearer and success is eminent. Your business will immediately come into focus. You’ll notice it almost immediately! You just gave your business a facelift that will last and last.

    2. Time of Tranquility – Make it and keep it!
I’ve heard people say they don’t have time for tranquility. I say you can’t afford NOT to take care of your mind, body and especially your spirit. Work toward spending time alone to reflect, replenish and prepare for the next day or week ahead. As a nocturnal person, I enjoy this quiet time in the wee hours of the night or morning. It’s well worth the investment of time to guarantee peace, renewal and resilience.

    3. Free Yourself from the Mental Clutter.
Stop trying to be all things to all people at all times – it’s just not possible. Once you stop trying, give yourself permission to stay that way. It’s the flight safety instructions all over again. Practice extreme self-care to safeguard your mind, body and spirit with vigilance. Freeing yourself of the mental clutter allows you up to support your clients with stellar results. What a wonderful way to take care of yourself and your business!

    4. Look for Peace in all things.
Do your best to make peace in every situation and circumstance. Next time you feel tension rising in your relationships, remember that it takes two people for tension to exist. Looking for peace improves your listening skills and turns the volume up on respect for others. Try this one and watch your relationships grow stronger. Your clients will love you!

    5. Accept what is and what is not and act accordingly.
What’s a shoulda, woulda, coulda or cain’t anyway? Face reality rather than guessing at what might have been. Then, and only then, do you move forward. Acceptance goes a long way to building inner peace and contentment – the much-needed element of an effective business facelift!

    6. Do your best in whatever you do.
Doing your best not only shows others you’ve got what it takes. It also creates a strong sense of accomplishment to balance out the challenges and obstacles. Build up a string of achievements and write them down. You’ll balance the scales and consistently feel the lift.

Even if you dedicate yourself to just one of these ways, you’ll see remarkable results from your business facelift. You’ll have more fun and appreciate your clients, too.

How will you give your business a facelift today? This 5-minute video will definitely get you started:
